Apple Redeems Itself - $100 Store Credit to Early iPhone Customers

In an unprecedented move, Apple's CEO Steve Jobs today announced, in an open letter to iPhone customers, that those who bought an 8GB iPhone prior to the 33% price drop announced on September 5th will be compensated by a $100 store credit at Apple's retail and online stores.

Jobs said that the decision comes in response to the overwhelmingly negative response from early adopters of the iPhone.

In his letter, Jobs wrote: "...we need to do a better job taking care of our early iPhone customers as we aggressively go after new ones with a lower price. Our early customers trusted us, and we must live up to that trust with our actions in moments like these."

I could not agree more.

Thank you Mr. Jobs. You have shown that Apple is a company that cares about its customers. As far as I'm concerned, Apple has redeemed itself.

With this, there is no longer a reason for this site to exist, though I will leave it around for people to post their comments on this latest development.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the site with their comments (even the less-than-encouraging ones).

$100 store credit is not hood enough! I am, correction, was a loyal apple customer. $100 in store credit is an insult! I will be boycotting apple ( as hard as that may be). I feel betrayed!!

      Hi Carly,
That's up to you. For me, it was the gesture more than the value or the mechanism of the restitution. Apple showed me they cared, and that's all I wanted.

they " care" because they have to. By giving back store credit they are only taking more from us-- not giving back. They are forcing us to spend money with them on items we may not have wanted but now feel compelled to buy-and prob have to add money out of pocket.

The $100 is just Bushtalk... smoke to draw the eyes away from the truth. The truth is Apple used its most loyal promoters to maximize per unit profits.

It is Apples calculated motivations that are forever engrained in my soul. Never again will I be able to get joy sharing mac wonders to help convert PC users because Apple is just another American Corporation that deceived me for corporate profit.

Even their $100 credit is laced with making money off of the people who kept them from dieing in the 90s... Peace be with you Apple, I hope you succeed with your PC using ipod users. I believe the true mac users are finished promoting your product. At least I am
